I was caught by a big wave on the outer reef off Makaha today in the Southerly. My kite went down and and ended up inside out and twisted and it looked like I might not get it up again. I was confident I could of self rescued the 2 ks back to shore but there was a chance someone from the headland would have called for a rescue. This would have been very embarrassing and not good for any of us. I still want to enjoy this magical place but need a safe way to do it. If we are to go out there again I reckon we need a buddy system so if one gets into trouble the other can tow them in. None of my kite buddies are up for it, so if you are please let me know. I did eventually get my kite back up by winding my kite in with one of the back lines. Steve
