I've tried a few spots around Sydney that state "flat water", but I still think it's kind of choppy :-/ I've been browsing around on Google Earth trying to locate spots with perfectly flat water, and found a few that seems promising. I then compared to the NSWK map, and found that the pittwater at Palm beach is labeled "Kitesurfing not recommended". Is it still allowed to kitesurf there, or is this simply a nice way of saying that we're not allowed there?

Any one that can recommend a nice flat water spot?

The closest to flat water in Sydney is Towra other than that it's choppy. People do kite the pittwater side of Pamly but I've yet to - it's gusty, there's powerlines next to the water, there's anchored boats, and the float planes land there.

All and all not a great spot. If your really jonsing for flat water your looking at a 3-6 hour drive so pack your tent.

Haha no, it's just that I ride with a pretty big wakestyle board, so if the water is choppy it's pretty hard to get a good edge since I keep bouncing off the chop instead.. I cruised around in Botany bay this saturday, trying to get a idea of which spots were the best in each wind direction, but I'm still looking for that perfect flat water ;-)

I think that because of the terrain around pittwater, you will find the wind to be very gusty. and lots of traffic.

Get a new board. doesnt need to be this years model.
you can get some old ones for cheap in buy and sell.
