Hey guys,
I have been in Newcastle since january this year but have not done anywhere as much kiting as I would have liked. I have been out at Nobbys in a NE and tried south end of redhead beach but I am wondering where the good spots are to go and in what winds.. Is there anywhere that a southerly would be good in? I think it would be onshore at nobbys? I have heard that squid ink point on lake mac is good in a westerly?
Any tips would be great!
Thanks

In New Castle I have only been kiting in Belmont South on the lake. The water is shallow, now waves, great winds in the morning and very safe. At least from a beginner's point of view. The only problem I had was the cold water. But that was in the middle of the winter.

Hope you like it :)

That's the beautiful thing about that spot. Doesn't really matter. At least that's what I know. I could be wrong. Maybe someone can confirm?

mike dobee is talking about squids ink caravan park just outside of belmont thats only kiteable in a nor wester. if you search the aksa map or google kitesurfing spots nsw/ newcastle ull find that there is a map there. but theres plenty of spots for every wind u just have to be friendly to the locals n ask lots of questions as there is razor fish in the lake and other issues depending on spots.

Hey,
I'm also new in Newcastle. I study here for one semester and I'm going back to Germany in end of February. Is there something like a facebookgroup for kiters around Newcastle? when not we should make one. then it is easier to organizes some session together.

Here are some location tips thanks to the member "Source"

"Ne trade winds come in during October to April, depending on strength you can ride Stockton, Nobbys, Dixon Park, redhead, blacksmiths, Cavesbeach, and for flat water salts bay..
Westerlies, winter occasional summer, belmont south(squids) Warnersbay,
South west, wind. Swansea, Merewether,
Southerly, swansea, Cavesbeach, Dixon Park, parts of Stockton, valentine, Warnersbay, marmong point.
South east, blacksmiths, Stockton, nobbys, Bolton point, Warnersbay, marmong, flat water the entrance."

Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it! Can't wait for those NE winds to return in summer!
