I think it is time we organised a kiting club for the sydney area. I know many reginal areas have done this.
I find it strange that there are a number of comps on in regional areas but not where the population is. I know Its not as nice as cairns but i think its important to have regular comps and social days in order to increase the level of riding and respect for fellow kiters.
Does anyone else feel similar.
How should we develop this idea?

It has been tried a few times before. Unfortunately nobody wants to put the effort into organising it. It is a shame. However its not worth it if only 1-3 people do all the work for it.

Many hands makes light work so it will take a collective of like minded people to make it happen and when that eventuates NSWKBA will definately be behind it.

I guess i will try and rally up the crew once the winds get a bit better. I'm happy to put in some hours.

Id be interested in some sort of club mate. I think it would be good for trips and stuff like that. Who do you think would be more interested. Younger blokes or older blokes? If you got kitepower involved that could help too.

Hi Green horn here.
I Am very new to the sport. (havent even ridden yet. Just ready for sept/oct to "Begin") Anyway no knowledge on the sport. However i have been involved in clubs growing up and found them to be a great influence on personal confidence/learning and goodtimes etc.

As i am new and find it difficult to get info on the sport (besides the net and three DVD's)i would be interested in helping in some way. If you do get a club up and happening, I let me know (via seebreeze) and i ll see if i can attend... Thanks
See ya out there.

Count me in.

Intermediate level so probably more use on the social/trips rather than comps, but happy to lend a hand.

Its finally happening! The meeting to discuss a Botany Bay Kitesurfing Club and issues at the Bay and Dolls Point Beach Ban.

Weds the 11th October 2006, St George 16' Sailing club, Sanoni Ave, Sans Souci, 7.30PM start.

Make an effort and show some community spirit. We all need to keep our kiting beaches open and create a responsible and safe kiting community.

Cheers, Marcel

Steve and Col went into town and registered the club. We are now officially known as "Southern Sydney Kiteboarding Club" inc.
Many thanks to Kitepower for footing the bill for registration.
It is now time to address the issues of membership, web site and general info. Keep posted

Great news about getting the name sorted and registered, well done by everyone involved.

As I mentioned at the first botany meeting NSWKBA is keen to help the club, we have put a page on the NSWKBA website announcing the Botany meetings etc and can make a "Southern Sydney Kiteboarding Club" homepage on there if you want.

A few of us are working on a beach handout for Sydney that shows good kiting spots and points on the hazards at other places. Email [email protected] if you would like to contribute, we will consult the new club for the Botany info.

Cheers
