Hi there,
I would love to learn kitesurfing and I'm looking for an instructor around Sydney. I searched on google and found a few offers, but I don't want to end up with an overpriced lesson :)
I bought a trainer kite (rush III pro 300) a couple of month ago and I had lot's of fun with it. I did some water-dragging and jumping and that sort of stuff... And I did some wakebording before. But that's eight years ago, don't know if that's any help?
Can you guys recommend someone? And where are the good kiteshops here?
Cheers, Lukas

Thanks for the website. I will definitely read through some stuff today to learn more!
Had my lesson yesterday at Botany Bay. It was really awesome and at the end I managed to stand on the board for a second, or maybe two :) Now I need to buy myself some equipment..

G'day Lukas, congrats on getting up on a board in your first lesson if only momantarily, still an awesome start.
There are three kiteboarding stores in sydney to get your gear from. all i believe are doing sales.
Windsurf n' Snow, 17-19 Anzac ave Collaroy ( Naish, North, Airush and Cabrinha)
Balmoral Boards ,Narrabeen. ( Griffin, Slingshot, F-one)
Kite Power, Sans Suici ( Ozone, Slingshot, Cabrinha, Best and a few small companies i think,,, unsure.)
If you have not set ur mind on a particular model/brand of kite than i would suggest buying a kite from ur local store. I.e North side of bridge Windsurf n Snow or Balmoral Boards and South Side go to kitepower or check out http://www.alliancegear.com.au if on the south side.
hope this helps

Another question on instructors,
Is there one in the Sydney metrop area that teaches landboarding and kite handling skills.
Thought it best i go down this path before buying bigger kites.
Or will schools do so, as I have no wish yet to be shark fodder.lol

i would avoid landboarding as a way to learn kite skills. when you fall (and you will) it will hurt a lot more than on water!
however, get yourself a small trainer /powerkite and learn the basics. they are always good to keep and pass on to friends and partners etc and for when its not windy enough to get on the water.
most shops will help you out with this.
