There are a only a few choices for westerlies in Sydney and sometimes it all depends on how far your willing to travel. For Bontany Bay you can go to the other side for Yarra Bay, however it has been known to be gusty in westerlies and there is trash under the surface and if you go out too far you're in the shipping lane. All that said there are sometimes guys there in Westerlies. Another option depending on how far you want to travel is Perimbee Point at Lake Illawarra. The only down side is when it blowing there are a lot of windsurfers in the area and they have to walk 500m to get out of the shallows and the launching area is really fluky behind the trees. You have to be really careful when lauching. It is not uncommon there to see somones kite stuck in the tree. You should look at what other people have to say on other fourms however and do a search for westerlies in Sydney and check out this website could help. http://www.nswkba.com.au/Default.aspx?pageId=340958

If you're on the northern shores, you could try Pittwater up by Palm beach. It's ok on a W or NW, shouldn't be too bad on a WSW. I'm thinking of going Sunday if there's at least 15knots, pm me if you're near Manly and need a ride.
