Hi,
I'm considering to buy a used kite and found reasonable offers in a similar price range on these:
08 Best Waroo 11m (it's actually never been used)
09 Cabrinha Crossbow IDS 11m
09 Ozone Sport+ 11m
I'm a beginner, spent few days on water with an instructor. Weigh 67kg, own a 135cm Underground FLX board. In snowboarding, I strongly prefer freeriding to freestyle so I expect this to be similar with kiteboarding.
My principal requirements are:
* wide wind range as this will be my only kite and I want to be on water as much as possible :)
* good performance in lower wind since the place where I'm from doesn't have stronger winds often
* effective depower would be nice, especially at the beginning
* solid construction build. There will be some crashes I reckon, especially at the beginning
I don't need:
* unhooked performance - until I grow to unhooked stuff, I'll surely change my equipment
* and other features that very advanced riders migh need but are not important for beginners. I mean those that a beginner to advanced rider doesn't really need due to the lack of skills
Sooo, do you have any experience with these kites? Which one would you recommend and why?
Thanks,
GG

I can only comment on the Waroo, haven't use the others.
The 08 Waroo/09 Waroo/10 bullaroo are all very similar kites and are loved by many hence Best having to bring out the 10 bullaroo when the 10 Waroo wasn't a winner.
They are easy to use, well made and you will have few dramas. No one pump on the 08/09 is a real bonus if you plan to keep it awhile. They work in the waves and are usable for unhooked stuff so pretty versitile.
A new kite beats a used kite, you should get a couple of seasons with no probs.

Do you have any experience with 08 Waroo 11m's wind range? How is it doing in low wind?

I have an old 07 Waroo 11 mtr that I use occasionaly, at 80 kg on a 135 x 40 board I can get going in 12-13 knots. You will use it to 20-22 knots but that depends on the water conditions, chop will knock you around a lot. The 08 is a better kite than the 07 so you may do better than this figures,

I would suggest either the Best and Ozone would meet your requirements. My preference would be the Ozone, but that is just me.
Unsure on the Cabrinha, know nothing about them apart from they like trees (allegedly)

Have used all 3, my choice would be the waroo, but not all of that years waroos have a working saftey system just suicide set up.The reason it would be my choice out of those three is it just flys better,it has good relaunch and wind range (but so do the other 2), the cabs my 2nd choice but it flys much slower and the ids can be unreliable after little use .still the ozone is newer have a good look at the condition of all of them, they would probably all work for you.
have fun George

Get the ozone. It fangs upwind and Your arms never get tired. The waroo might be a bit quicker turning though and the cabrinha is crap.

^I agree. I use an 08 Ozone 11m for most of my kiting, and it is an awesome kite. The 09 looks even better and the build quality of Ozone is IMO better than any other brand.

I would also go with the 08 Waroo as its a sweet kite/good allrounder, Crossbow has heavy bar pressure/slow turning and although i do not have any experience with the Sport + (someone will correct me if i,m wrong) i am quite sure they have less depower than the other two kites mentioned.
