Is it possible to use the Switchblade 2012 bar with the Switchblade 2010? The new bar looks much better than the 2010 bar so i was thinking of getting one for my kite.

LOL, Cabrinha made a massive table but that could have just said, the IDS will only carry over to other years with IDS...

Anyway it answered my question to!

I just bought the Cabrinha 2012 IDS bar. One thing to watch out for is that the leash is attached to a fixed loop on the bar and not the 100% depower line like most bars on the market.

It seems really dangerous if you ride unhooked because your leach is attached to the bar and not to the 100% center line. The quick release 2 can only be activated if the quick release 1 is activated. So if you are unhooked and you dropped the bar, you will not be able to reach up to activate qr1 and then qr2. Seem a bit strange.

Anyone else have any info on this.

isn't this the same way as riding suicide?

and if you need to detach from the kite while unhooked wouldn't you just pull the safety from your leash?

Suicide , The leash is connected above the QR on the chicken loop if you drop the bar when un hooked kite fully depowers and no flagging either .

Here is a review I wrote of the 2012 Cabrinha IDS bar kitesurfing-handbook.peterskiteboarding.com/reviews/cabrinha-quicklink-ids-control-bar-2012

The bar has a 3 stage security system and QR2 cannot be released unless QR1 is already released.

You can also get a partial upgrade with the new chicken loop, release system and central integrated tube and retain your existing bar. Its about half the price of the complete new bar.

If you drop the bar when riding with the 2012 bar and the leash connected to the leash ring then the kite depowers about 90-95%

If you then pull in on the leash to get to the QR1, the kite will not power up and then you can operate QR1 and the kite will depower 99% and you can self rescue by getting to the kite with the help of the IDS line, or in an extreme/unusual case you can release the kite altogether by operating QR2 or your leash QR.

The Cab system is comprehensive and very functional, well designed, but not easy to reload in the water (but can be done with practice)
