I have just realise how cool kitesurfing . I have grown up surfing penguin island Bomie,Pt peron and Anstey Blue holes and now I'am 39, Kids just about gone, time to learn kitesurfing.All I'am looking for is a little direction to begin learning what I need to buy, Eg second hand or new, do I require lessons, Where to start,Thanks

The script pretty much goes like this.

1) buy, borrow, steal a trainer kite. Fly this for a few weeks and get a good sense of the wind window.

2) get some lessons. I don't know ur area so can't recommend any. Anywhere between 2 and 10 hours you'll probably need.

3) after you trashed your instructors gear during lesson, they should give you an idea of what gear you'll need. There's a lot of personal preference involved in picking a kite. Only thing I'd say about getting 2nd hand is font go too old, maybe 2009 latest.

Definitely get lessons, and most shops will give you free lessons when you buy new stuff of them
