Noob looking for more winter tips.
I just read all the safety posts on winter kiting and all is VERY helpful.
Yep very green and dont want winter to slow my learning curve but I will take on all that has been mentioned.
I had my first cold day today I am wondering how many people use booties and gloves?
Being a "noob" dont want to look to "over the top" .
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

PS Any Adelaide based all year round kiters please post your possible locations and times. Will be doing my best to get out all winter.
Even if i only make the beach and get the kite up I figure its experience. Wont be chasing horizons just yet, but really want to experience all conditions.
Cheers Bandit 50.

Fellow noob here (just up and riding short distances in both directions, busting to get out and lay down some motor memories in the next couple of days). I was thinking of getting booties but one of the instructors suggested not to for now as they can change the feel of the board under the feet. I don't mind the cold though- been known to swim without wettie in the ocean mid winter once in a while

The idea of gloves sounds good tho - imagine holding onto the bar with blue fingers might get tricky!

Get booties. You get used to the feeling and the slight hassle of getting your feel with booties on them into the straps is more than made up for by being able to stay out longer and not cutting your foot open if you hit anything underwater, especially while learning. Ideally get tall booties, so they cover your wetsuit pants. Thus you won't get balloon legs.

as for booties, put a bowl of water outside you house overnight, then prior to session sit or stand with your feet in the bowl for 5mins, better still if you've a metal post put your hands on that at the same time, its a trick we did as army divers in the uk, also 6 to 8 cuppas to give you that constant flow of warm urine, aaargggh bliss

Hey man. Yep rug-up to the conditions. Wind chill is prob the major factor. Definitely booties then depending how long you can stay out look at gloves and hood.
If your worried about fashion you can still wear boardies over a dry suit...lol. dont think i have seen that one yet.
