Good day all , this is not a slamming post or a venting post .... Just a little info as when I was a newbie it happened to me when catching somebody Elsa's kite. Please if u catch a guys kite just hold it and don't put it down let the kiter himself do it , reason been u can by accident put it on a sharp object and damage the kite and secondly some guys just bang it on the beach which is not very polite especially if it is not ur gear and thirdly throwing sand on others kite u could actually throw something on it and it could tear the kite un knowing to u, So advise just catch it and hold it till the person comes a gets it

If I catch the kite it is going on the ground.
it will, if that windy, have sand.

I Don't launch or land kites...

Tell them to spend time learning self landing and launching instead of practising law mowing or throwing backrolls.

It might offend but sometimes people don't like the truth..

just say YOLO and point out to the sea. This should confuse people.

I think this is a very average post in the newby section. When I was learning I was just very grateful to have someone catch my kite.

And if I caught someone else's kite I was just happy to get it safely on the beach.

Kiting is scary enough at the start without having to worry about someone's preffered method of putting their kite down to minimise risk of some damage.

I suggest if you want to debate, do it in the general section and not scare newbies who are already really worried about doing the wrong thing.

What part of I don't land/launch kites did you miss slave?

I usually chuck it 5 feet up in the air at the same time as you are connecting to your bar.

I don't get another invite back to launch after this

You got the gender wrong. The question to RPM should have been, "If it was a super hot dude, would you land his kite?"

How hot is fish grease?

Gas - Suggest is is you have specific needs you discuss these with the person you hope will land your kite prior to putting it in their hands.

Why the rage because of a polite suggestion?

Weirdo's

I do this all the time too. Catch the kite and hold it upside down floating until the dude walks over. He can then treat it how he likes.

On the other side of it. If someone catches my kite. As soon as the lines loose tension I jog up and grab the kite before the dude slams it on the ground or chucks sand on it.

This should just be accepted practice.
There is no downside to this approach.

Hi SibboV1, that's quite an imaginative username!!!!

As your From Queensland you should know that the there is more gays per capita in the sunshine state than Sydney and Rio de Janeiro put together. Furthermore I have a GF for the last 5+ years. (thanks DM)
No gayness from my side however good luck with being single this festive season..

RPM, you seem a bit touchy about your sexuality. Not quite ready to come out of the closet just yet and have to act all manly to hide your latent desires for man on man action? It's a new age, we will accept you no mater what your preference is, so just be yourself and be happy to land someone's kite in your dunes.

LOL. Mate, you must be a die-hard beginner.

Fun fact: Most kite surfers hate - guess what? Wasting time on the beach, when they could be kiting.

Just put the darn thing down and get on with your life!

Actually this *IS* how to catch a kite!

and staying out of the lines

what a waste of a thread

seen plenty of knobs tap their head then dunk the kite upwind of the man on the beach, land your kite downwind and be approached not dodged, if you want your kite assisted landing then how its done isn't for you to decide, tether or self land if you want to be particular, or walk up and tell them what you require, at this stage id leave him to his own devices

Earlier in the season I witnessed an inexperienced newbie catching a kite for one of the long time regulars at my local. The newbie didn't grab the kite correctly and allowed the kite to fold backwards on itself. After struggling with it for a few seconds he finally got the LE pointing downward but before it got to the sand the LE split from front to back starting from a thread hole aligning with the point at which the kite was allowed to fold back on itself. Of course the bladder also disintergrated. Bin, open wallet, new kite.
The same scenario happened to me only a couple of weeks ago in fairly high winds. Fortunately my kite didn't self destruct, but I totally cringed at the sight.
I think the original poster has a good point and I would not be upset if everyone who caught my kite held it upside down and waited for me to turn it over. At least then responsibility for damage lies squarely with the owner.

You're local doesnt happen to be scarbs? You might be talking about me... I know i did the exact thing described about a month ago to someone there. Still really embarrassed about it ( ) but thankfully no damage occurred. Of course i was 100% at fault at what i did, but the other side of the story is i was talking to someone i knew and all of a sudden with no signals or eye contact i had a kite right above my head! Always important not to make assumptions if people are ready so they dont feel rushed

Hey mrodda117.. no it wasn't at Scabs but your post does point to more similar situations. My post was to more point out how extensive damage can get from a simple mistake.
