Standard thread. What size kites should I buy?

I am 92kg in my birthday suit and while I would like to loose 10kg will that happen? In the winter I plan to sail the Northerlies at Rosebud and in the summer to sail Mentone, Hampton in the seabreeze.

I have a 12m Airush DNA. I really need 16knots+ to get out. I think I probably should have purchased a 13 for my main kite.

I know the usual thinking is but a kite that is 3m smaller but if my main kite is a bit small then perhaps I should buy a 10 rather than a 9? I am thinking Airush DNA 10m or Airush Lithium 9m.

In the summer I think my 12m is going to prove a bit small. So should I go with an Airush DNA 14m or an Airush Lithium one (16m)?

My mate is a similar weight and he uses 17m and 15m all the time on the odd windy day a 10m. Also a big board nothing smaller then a 148. Im around 85kg and use a 14m and a 12m all the time. We do go kiting every weekend from 10k to 30k.

There are a couple of Lithium 9's advertised here second hand. One is without a bar and I think my bar is 55 cm (will measure tonight). Would I regret using a bar that is over length?

About the same price for a 2013 with bar and a 2014 without bar. Hmmmm.

If the bar is to long the kite will turn allot faster not always a good thing. Depends on what ridding style. I use my 9m from 25knots to 35knots. I have had a few airush kites Bars are ok i dont use the kites or bars any more. I Had 3 of them.

Don't get Airrush man. It's like buying a toyota. buy Cabrinha or North, with bar and lines. Those kites are set and forget, so you can focus on riding.

The safety features of my Airush bar work, the bar sheets out first time every time and it is easy to reset on the water ......

So maybe it should be Volvo?

Correct! And like a Volvo, it needs to have its 'lights' on all the time.

So I guess you are saying I will outgrow a Lithium?

In all seriousness I am a beginner (15 hours) and I need to buy a 9m kite. I have a 12m DNA (same cut as Lithium) and while I don't know any other kite I am really enjoying it. Some people on here have said it makes sense to buy a quiver of the same make/brand of kite and that makes good sense to me.

Then the price difference between a 2015 Cab with bar and a 2015 Lithium with bar is substantial.

What is lithium?

Lithium affects the flow of sodium through nerve and muscle cells in the body. Sodium affects excitation or mania.Lithium is used to treat the manic episodes of manic depression. Manic symptoms include hyperactivity, rushed speech, poor judgment, reduced need for sleep, aggression, and anger. It also helps to prevent or lessen the intensity of manic episodes.Lithium may also be used for other purposes not listed.
