Hi all,
I'm new to the sport after 20+ years of windsurfing. I've done my lessons and am able to ride, hold an edge and as of yesterday go upwind and get back to the spot on the beach where I started.
Yesterday I was out on a 12m (cab convert) fully depowered when everyone else was on 10's and 9's with wind speed ranging between 18 - 25 knots. I was overpowered a lot of the time but still able to ride but I'm not sure if that was just my technique or if I was actually overpowered.
So the question is; what do people advise would be the next kite size down for me? (I weigh about 85kg) I'm used to sailing 'fully powered' in windsurfing and often have a sail size bigger than others around if that makes any difference.
Cheers

depends on the kite but around 3m is good.

Im 82 kgs and have a 9m Fuse. For me its ideal wind range is 20 - 25 knts. Less than 20 it starts becoming hard work, more than 25 it begins to overpower. Of course that is just me... many other people have the same kite, have very different weight and can still juice the kite in a much wider variation of conditions. If you say 18-25 I would average that at 22 and my initial reaction is that 12m would be to big for those conditions. A 9m & 12m combo is very popular. You might go a 10m but if you already have a 12m, a 9m would give you a wider windrange
