hey guys,

Just wondering what the difference line length has on a kite (12m Jekyll)
I have 21M lines standard and then there are 3M extension lines
Does this give the kite a greater low end or high end or?

cheers

Elf, as I understand it, the longer the line the 'more power' you get... to be specific :

It takes longer for the kite to sine through the power zone hence you have more power for longer, but a slower moving kite as a result.

Best bet is to try the extensions on a suitably lower wind day, review your kites turning and power ability. Then come in, take them off and retest.

FYI, a 12m Rebel (which is a 'pretty standard kite' has 24m lines by default, but they go down to 19m.

Hi Elf,

I use two bars for the Cab Vectors I own. I have the standard 22m line and I have a 22m line with 5m extensions.
If the wind is adequate (above 15 knots), I use the 22m lines on my kites. Once the wind goes below 15 knots I used the 22+5m lines.

I don't get more power as such, I am just able to move the kite through the power zone for a longer period. This certainly helps when launching and if you need to sine the kite to generate apparent wind (as pointed out by Salty).

The only danger is the extra line length can bring you unstuck when landing or launching near trees if you are used to the length of the shorter lines.
