Hi guys!
I'm currently working on my 'Load and Pop' to pop into a backroll or a hooked in railey. However I'm finding that when I point downwind to gain some speed or to 'load', I find I actually loose speed and then when I point upwind again I find I've lost all power I had before I pointed downwind and I have nowhere near enough power to pull myself out of the water..
any tips? cheers lads!

I believe it's mostly a timing problem, meaning you probably spend too much time heading downwind before edging and loading. Ride at medium/high speed and then bear downwind only for about half a second then immediately edge hard upwind. Timing is everything for a good pop I find, watch the pros over and over again and you'll figure it out.

Hi Akwa
From your discription I think you are turning to far downwind. You should be going perpendicular to the wind, 90 degrees to the wind.
When riding upwind on your rail at comfortable speed standup over your like you would ride a skateboard going straight. Don't actually turn downwind, just by coming over the board you will end up going at 90 degrees to the wind. Then replant your rail and try and turn into the apparent wind

I find it much easier to do unhooked seems to give more pop more easy for me anyways.

If your trying this hooked in your better off not trying to edge upwind, just like posted before to be at 90 degrees to the wind. You will find that you will pick up a moderate speed, spot where you want to launch from (only bare off down wind now if you where to unhook to relieve line tension) push with your back leg to go up wind, stand tall and look over your front shoulder for the back roll. Pushing to go upwind is all down in a couple of seconds to load.
