im 95 kg (93 this morning yahoo). And riding a 140 x 42 Cabrinha custom which I like but I notice the tail has been cracked and repaired.

Ive been looking at getting a board that I can hold an edge well in higher winds, I haven't really ridden over 23 knots yet so not sure the Cabrinha custom will allow me to edge well in 27knotts plus.

looking at a Axis liberty 137 x 41.5. But not sure if the flatter rocker and softer flex would counter the smaller volume board to being harder to edge in heavier wind.

any advice on board design v size would be appreciated

Ps. Should I be considering much smaller to fit high wind board spec
cheers

In high winds apparently thinner boards give a smoother ride in higher winds (from a thread i posted last year). I ride a 125 and i am 80kg (more like a skateboard) and it is sweet!

Shinn Monk 135 would be good for high wind control and a smooth ride for your knees.

custom/cbl rock in high winds but you do need a bit more length to counter the rocker. a shorter board will be harder to edge (and harder on your knees) in stronger winds especially if there is a lot of chop.

Thanks, cab custom I have really enjoyed in 18-23 mine is 140 x 42 so on what you say I might be in the sweet spot for bigger winds (just don't want get caught out with wrong board for when the wind does come). It does seem to cut through chop like a knife.
Ive changed outlook a bit since writing this, Im now thinking a Cab Tronic might be better alternate to my quiver as my main style agenda is riding waves, carving etc. A fella I met recently (Bigtone) has a stable of boards and offered me to try before buy so perfect and generous opportunity to get it right

Thanks all for your advice

The custom should be fine for you . Generally the problem with your board is lighter wind, not stronger days as advised above the extra rocker of the custom helps to smooth out chop on windy days.I ride a Nobilie 50/50 138/39 very similar in design to the custom in pretty much everything
Hope this helps
