Hey everybody
Came to aus 3 months ago after having done some lessons and getting to the stage where they would allow me to rent gear from them and go out on my own (which i didnt cus i was scared) i decided to buy my own gear, or start to anyways.
I have purchased a 2011 9m cabrinha crossbow and an advection waist harness.
Im struggling a bit with which board to get. I think i want it to be cheap as i read on here alot about lost boards etc, and i expect to crash a few times and may lose the board and i want something that wont make me cry too much as i watch it sail off into the sunset without me on it! any recommendations greatly appreciated.
Also iv read on here about shearwater just north of surfers paradise, so the other day i decided to go for a little drive and have a look! sadly wind conditions werent up to scratch therefore no one was kiting. But there were a lot of boats and jet skis which did worry me a little bit for when i get out on the water. The other spot i looked at is currumbin but that is very busy when the wind is right, is not that big and also alot of beach goers which isnt the best for me being a noob.
Any tips on what board to get and where to go etc are greatly appreciated also if there is anyone heading out to the currumbin sort of area give me a shout as id like to maybe come give a helping hand and have a nose and just go over do's and dont's e.g. lines and setup etc as i feel you can never know enough.
Name is Dan by the way!

Hey Dan
Why don't you go have a lesson with a local school / instructor (if there's one nearby). Not only will they give you a feel for local spots that might suit you (including things to watch out for, etc.), you'll be able to get some advice on a board from someone who can judge what your needs are first hand. Maybe they can get you a good deal - you never know.

Hey Watto
thanks for the reply, yer i was thinking about having a lesson once i got my kite and harness etc just so i could go over the kite setting up and everything else. Maybe i will just borrow a board off of them for the lesson and get some advice on what may be best for me as you said.
thanks for the heads up buddy!
