Bought it a few months ago, but have either been too chicken or not enough wind to use it. I'm a newbie.
After work today went out at Melville. First bloke I spoke to said he was going ok on a 7 so I ran with it. Time I rigged up the wind seemed to have dropped but I went out anyway.

I had a ball! The chart says it was 17 to 23 knots, which is normal wind for my 10, but I was going really well, blasting along and upwind wherever I wanted to be really. There was guys out on 13's 11's and all sorts.

My question is: am I just learning how to kite better.?Is there a really big overlap between kite range? Am I a woose riding a 7 when others are on 13? I'm 83kg so not a jockey.

More importantly, why am I asking stupid questions after a great session! ( 3 glasses of Shiraz is why)

Small kites are the best mate if I could ride my 8m every session I would it's light and quick and is a loop machine, prob is the wind never plays ball,as long as your powered and can crank back upwind those small kite sessions are the ones you remember most, you'll love it when your out in 30+

The graph on the river is a fair bit under i've found. kited PT W at "22" myself and definately 30+ fully powered on my 7 Fuse at the time at 90kg.

Overlap between those kites was around 3- 5 kts on a 7, 10m combo.

I have to agree with the graph on the river...
Went 1 morning at Pt Walter with my 6m in "18 knots".
I can hold my 6m until 40 knots (if not too gusty). Big wind range
Why do I have other kites?!?!?!

I like small kites, you can send them really fast and booooom

Yes, the river is quite gusty in a W or NW and I also wonder where the meters located.

Anyway, it was a lot of fun. The speed you can whip it up and down to generate some pace was unreal. Can't wait to get out on it again. Only bummer was it didn't make learning to gybe any easier! Keep trying, or buy myself a twin tip I suppose..
