So I want to use my wakeboard with boots for kiteboarding to see what it feels like for boots vs straps. However I have a few questions about it. the board has some large fins on the bottom, so I cant stand up and put it on, my plan was to sit down in a few inches deep of water and put it on then move myself out deep enough untill I can body drag. Is there a better way to do this?

Take the fins off (assuming they aren't fixed), board will be more lose, but most wakeboards have channels/decent rails so you can ride them finless no probs. Then just sit on the edge of the shore with your kite parked wingtip on the water, put your boots on and kite (carefully) across the shallows into deeper water.
Keep in mind while you can kite on a wakeboard, most have pretty large rockers compared to kiteboards, and as such they ride like a truck and don't like going upwind.
