Hi all
I recently purchased some 2013 Nkb Frank boots but it seams after half an hour of riding the laces are loose again.
I've never had boots before so I think I might be doing something wrong, when I put them on I pull the laces tight and slide the plastic stopper down to the boot, is their anything else I'm missing?
Also I've found that when I crash I get stuck with the board on my feet behind me, what is the easiest way to get it back in front of you?
Thanks

Are you putting them on wet or dry? Tighten the laces down then wiggle your foot back an forth to seat the lace locks. If this doesn't work, replace the laces. They wear and thin down over time. To your second question, just muscle the board back underneath you. Or just send the kite and let it pop you out of the water and onto your feet.

I've put them on both wet and dry, which is better?
And I'll try and set the lace locks next time.
Thanks

Mate you can use 2mm spectra for the laces, costs 90c per meter. You should be able to get this at most good boat chandlers in your favourite colour. I got some at Hillarys boat Shop. You will need 2 Meter for each pair of laces on each boot.
You just need to unscrew a cap on the plastic bit or pull the rubber bit off (depending on which year you have) to untie the knot.
You also need a thin piece of wire to help push the spectra though the plastic locking bit, and you should be sweet.
BTW to your second question, get your board in front of you before you relaunch your kite, I always find relaunching easier like this than doing the scorpion pose.
Hope this helps

once you slide the lace lock down you need to push hard on the tab. This will jam the lace into the lace lock. I'm on my third pair of ronix boots and they all do this unless you push the tab down on the lock. No need to replace the laces dude

Ok, so today i went to hillarys boat shop and bought the 2mm spectra, but apon trying to fit it into the lock i cant even get one of the laces in it. I know when you buy the lace lock kit it comes with the lock in 2 peices, is their any way of seperating the lock again?
. I see you mentioned using a peice of wire, but it doesnt seem to help. I am pretty certain is is the correct size spectra though.

I'm not sure how to separate the locks again.
What you need is a thin piece of piano wire and you should be able to push the spectra through with that. Make sure the tung bit is pulled all the way out. If they melted the spectra to cut it, this will form a hard blob and will not go through the lock, so cut this off and melt the end again once it is through.
If your still stuck pm me and you can come round after 8 tonight and I'll do it for you, Im in North Beach

Yeah the locks aren't meant to come apart again. A much easier job getting the kit from Ronix. It's $20 or $30 which is a lot for laces and plastic bits but always keep a spare set on hand for when you're doing trips etc. Nothing worse that having perfect conditions in paradise and spending time dicking around with laces. I keep a full set of laces and lace locks (Liquid Force as that's what i ride atm) any time I'm taking a kite trip or heading to the cable.

Not in Perth. I lived in Singapore for 3 months last year and I'm shooting to do a trip to Anthem this winter. Perth Wake Park won't be open for a few months yet.

Im on my second pair of ronix parks. Had to replace one of the plastic things on my first pair after about 6 months. Then a few months later the boots completly fell appart, got a new pair under warrenty. This new pair i have had for about 4 months and ive had to replace the top one on eash foot and they are already broken again. I cant even get them to go tight at all. Pretty fed up with them. Definetly going velcrow next time. Ronix are over rated i recon.

Ronix make a good boot but there sinches are utter crap I put LF on bottom lace and a second sinch on top lace
The problem is they will lock if you pull the lace evenly but if one side is pulled it will slip through ie when flexing and twisting.
