So.. sometimes my kite will stall at 12 after a jump or trying something new..

The kite will drift down with the lines slack but at the last second, will tension up and slam really hard into water...... Is there any thing I can do to prevent this?

Swim close to the kite? Pull on one line??

Cheers

Sounds like you're swinging/penduluming under the kite. The kite needs to be down wind of you to maintain line tension. Lean back going into jumps and steer the kite down earlier?
Not sure what you mean by "swim closer to the kite, pull on one line?"

I regularly lose line tension and get a falling kite riding waves. I can always recover by pulling hard on one line so when the kite powers up again it is facing the direction I want it to be.

Off the board, in the water with kite at 12 o'clock and you are losing line tension... This is also typical in wave riding when getting dumped by the surf. The way to keep the kite in the air is pump the bar - the kite will flap it's wings and this will fill the canopy, allowing the kite to drift back into the wind window with tense lines.

If there's only a little slack, you can try pulling the centre lines to remove the slack and give the kite some shape... I think.

typical noob stage...
1. get better - it's all technique - don't swing under kite at 12, redirect it earlier,etc.
2. not great for kite (eg if LE's gonna pop, it'll be on smack down)
3. You need to look up faster - ie if wipeout check kite position as soon as head above water, even if you get water in eyes etc. Kite will always turn one way to fall - if you reach up and grab as far up the top ie outside line and pull as hard as you can, will catch kite and turn it back up.

Hey you're right it always does turn one way then begin to fall, so I'll look out for that and pull the top-most line.

And yeah I am a bit kooky but I've just recently learned backloops, frontloops, and yesterday I pulled off a couple of backloop transitions. Mad stoke!

cheers ;)

try just steering the kite around from about 11 to 1 while your up there. This should power it up and get you ready for descent nicely. At least that~s what I do when I~m doing the pendulum
