Hi,
I have just completed my first set of lesson's kiteboarding and am looking at getting my first kite. The school i went through offer there old training kites at a reasonable price and have only had 6 weeks use. However am i better trying to get a second hand one from somewhere else, maybe a more experienced kiter? Would there kite be better than a 6 week old trainer that i know will have had a lot of hard crash's?

I'd say so. Check out the classifieds section on here for a start...

Sponsored kiteschools (I'd imagine), get new gear each year or so from x kite company, so I'd imagine they're not too fussed if they're trashed after a season.

It all comes down to the condition of the kite. Any repairs or obvious problems? Is the kite a good size and model for you. How much are you paying etc??

What kite did you have lessons on? That's often a good place to start. Most kite schools use good all-round kites that would obviosuly suit beginners. You want something easy to relaunch and not too responsive and powerful, a good stable kite. What is your budget?

Had a quick look at 2nd hand kites in Vic area. This one stuck out for a start:

www.seabreeze.com.au/Classifieds/Kitesurfing/Kites/~bn8f8/2010-Naish-Cult-105-metre.aspx?search=0nJvRyfYPfAkbkOI0opR8fplexnoywLl

The Cult is an ideal kite for your needs- stable, easy relaunch and it's a kite you can progress with for a good few years. I had a 10.5 Cult a cpl of years back and I can vouch for them.

(I have no affinity to this seller btw....)

Sounds like a good deal if it is as described
