That kite would be totally safe. In the time it took him to take the 3 pics it has lost all the air pressure. Just like blow up doll with unhappy ending

If it is stolen then they have kept it under wraps for about 5 years

Coming from a windsurfer sick of stopping on every gybe to clear weed off the fin and being underpowered compared to the gazillions of local kiters, and being halfway through kitesurfing lessons, what exactly is wrong with this setup? The board looks decent and is a good size for a begginner, however I can see the kites a bit too c-shaped and I gather this leads to less de-power? So its really worth getting something more bow shaped?

It's old, stuffed and a huge size kite. The board is a piece of crud.

we see newbs buying stuff like this all the time. If you want endless repairs and then have to take it to a shop because it flies funny then go and bid.

You wouldn't be the first tight arse who wants to set themselves up for $500 and then wonder why they always have issues with their gear.

Maybe do some research on the old north rhino.... Think about the wind conditions in your local area and use commonsense.

Looks like the canopy is made from black plastic garbage bags.......... Not even the decent gardening style bags but ......the super el-cheapos.

Bet it sounds crisp though.

Judging from the bag, it's an old (2003?) North Toro kite.

North's original learner kite, and they were considered pretty bad even back then.

For a winning bid of $51 you get a harness, pump, board and possibly a set of lines and throw away the kite. I reckon the person laughing hardest is the buyer!

Double checked in the North 10 year anniversary book, it's a North Toro either 2002 or 2003 ! what a rip off!

Interesting question. He's laid it out with a curve, perhaps to look like a bow kite and he mentioned that he believed it was a 2008/2009 model. Intentional deception of the buyers?

Well someone paid $510 for it all. would have been better off burning the cash.

08/09 is a pretty fraudulent call. However all buyers should also be informed. If someone does not know what model it is then it is a huge shot in the dark....and all it needed was a photo of the wingtip - should have the model printed there.....

Paradox your right it was $510 (not $51 - not such a good deal after all) Looks like I'm going blind and senile as well as being an old fart.
