without any bias at all, i would seriously consider a cab custom.
i pretty much only ride in the surf and this board aces it. it has plenty of rocker so carves are beautiful. like very few boards i have ridden, no splash in the face.

buy a surf board for the surf, you wont find a tt that handles waves as well. You wont be able to buy a hammer as they have stoped making them but if you can find one second hand grab it. Or try the new Airush Xover it is there most capable board for surf and should be great for freestyle as well. Or try the Fone SK8 designed mainly for carving in waves but handles bad chop and should have a comfortable ride. If you look at a surf board with straps try a f one bambo custom they look sick and ride better than any other surf board i have tryed and they are lighter than any other surf board with straps.

yeah get a surfboard instead :) much more fun on the waves that with any tt...but if you are looking only got a tt then try a board that carves like an angel ;) What carves beautifully? A board with big rocker. Try Nobile NHP. Its massive rocker will show you easy carves and no sudden spray in your face...try before you buy :)

The NHP does have a lot of rocker and you will definatly get no spray in your face and it really does carve well when going fast and rides from heel to toeside efortlessly but does require a lot of power to ride takes a bit more efort to get up on to the plane and going fast. It really is a great freestyle board but if i was going to get one for the surf it would have to be a lot bigger than what i would normally ride so probaly the 137 x 44cm so you can get some nice easy planing down the face of the wave and not have to ride as fast to get a good smooth carve. Wouldnt really be my first choice of board for the surf unless you are going to be pulling some big loops why you are out there.

I second this - JL Model 3 - great board for chop and waves - very similar outline to the hammer (maybe slightly wider overall but narrower tips). Probably more rocker than the Hammer tho. Pop off waves on the way out and goes OK edge-to-edge on waves. Also trucks upwind (deep Dominatrix concave).
