It's time to purchase the first kite (it will be a Slingshot) and I am trying to decide between the 9sqm and 11sqm size. So I have a few questions.....
I weight 72kgs and live in Perth. I hear 11sqm kites (mid size) are the norm for 15 to 25 knots in Perth.
1. Is the 9sqm going to be underpowered / under perform in 15 to 25 knot conditions?
2. Once I get more experienced will I wish I purchased the 11sqm?
3. In +25 knots - would the 9sqm be ideal and the 11sqm be overpowering?
4. As a beginner, I assume the 9sqm will be more forgiving - more enjoyable learning experience?
5. Should I look at Turbo Diesels instead? If so 8sqm or 10 sqm?

id go the 9m. i learnt on a 2002 12m fuel and weigh 95kgs and that was perfect for me in perth summer as an only kite. so the 9m ,which is pretty much a 10m , would be perfect. have you seen the diesels 05 model. about 500 bucks cheaper and really good kite for learning, you might still be able to get one new and they might be going cheap as the new 06 kites are out. visit choice kitesurfing ,5mins south of freo. good decision going the slingshots too.

I started in Perth this September myself and Slingshot is definitely the best choice in my opinion. 9 Diesel would be a really great kite, forgiving and stable. A Fuel can even push you a bit further in your progress. Ride both kites and then decide. There are plenty of riders on the beach willing to give them your kites for a short fly :). Im back home in Switz otherwise I would have had a 9 Diesel 05 4 sale ...
