One question, at 97 kgs would the edge 13m could stay upwind at 9-10 knots with a twin skimboard or a lightwind board.

I ask this because if so, I think the wind range o the 13m could be huge and better than the 15m.

Hope you can help with some feedback before I make a desition between the edge 13 or the 15.

I would prefer the 13m and a lightwind board for those 9-10 knots days we have at Acapulco Mexico, and when it peaks up could just change boards and boost high, than a 15m or 17m zephyr and then when it peaks up having to change kite.

hi Betomd........there is not a huge difference between the 13m and the 15m in terms of flying them. As Kitepower said with a race board or something really big the 13m will go upwind in the 10 to 15 knot wind. On this day I had no trouble going upwind on the 13m but I enjoyed the 15m much more as it was effortless. If you more often have these low winds then the 15m would be the right choice.They do fly really nice. turning speed is about the same. They loop nicely. the boost and hangtime is pretty much the same as the 13. At 97 kgs you are gonna get way more water time on the 15m, and not loose anything in terms of performance by opting for this size over a 13m. I personally would be happy to fly this kite up to 25knots.
The Ozone 15m edge does not behave like a big ol slow turning light wind kite. You would be pleasantly surprised...tough choice but if it were me then I would take the 15m.
And for the bigger days the 11m would be the perfect high wind option for you. This kite has serious power and is awesome to fly in the higher winds. Anything over 20knots and you will be on the 11m. Boost and hang time have to be experienced to be believed.

How does the 13 Cat compare to the 13 edge?

I've got an Ozone Edge 13m C4 in demo and I've flown the 2011 Ozone Edge 13M and have a 9 11 and 15 in demo.
Both have a very direct feel at the bar, both use the same size and idential bar.

The C4 tighter turning than the Edge, but does not stall turn (spin turn). Can be made to pivot turn easily and within its own wingspan so can perform very quick direction changes which makes it a good kite for surf.
Boosts very high, but without the hang time the Edge has. The C4 is the better kite for most people to kite loop with as it will loop quicker and the 13M feels like many other kites 10/11M size, it is a quick kite don't be put off by the number on the side.
The Edge also kiteloops but with even more power because it sweep turns around a point just inside its wing tip. The Edge has more lift and better upwind than the C4, although the C4 still goes upwind extremely well (all Ozone kites do).
The Edge was designed with racing in mind and the main difference with this years model over last years is its ability to go downwind much better due to it turning tighter due to the inherent flex in the 5 strut design over last years floatier but stiffer canopy 7 strut design.
The C4 has less projected area, and the least in the 3 Ozone models, so it does not have the raw bottom end of the 2011 Edge, but the C4 is one of the few kites I've used that can be signed and will still go upwind well, its an efficient well designed wing, typical of all the kites designed by Robbie Whitall.
Depower available at the bar and through moderate edging skill is very similar in both kites and more than enough for riders of any skill level.
C4 wins over the Edge for unhooking, by a big margin.
If you want a fast kite that you can unhook on and fling around in the surf or flat water go for the C4.
While if you want a a huge boosting hooked in old school type kite with an all rounder quality that effortlessly cruises upwind go for the Edge.
Both kites are a cinch to relaunch, self launch and self land.

I were curious about the bottom end of the 13 Catalyst (I'm assuming thats what its called this year since the Sport is no more)

I'm already sold on the Edges. Got an 11RX and its great apart from the bottom end and turning speed.

My biggest kite is a 13 Octane. I'd like to go for a 13 edge instead but dont want to loose any bottom end so the Cat might be a better option.

I were just hoping someone has tried the 13 Cat and 13 edge. Hoping this year's 13 edge is the silver bullet with better turning speed and bottom end.

I´m very curious about 3 strut kites. Does the weight loss improve their bottom end abilities?

The 15M Ozone Edge has better bottom end than the 14M Ozone Catalyst, but only by a couple of knots.
Edge wins on hang time, but its easier to get higher with the 14M catalyst because it turns back tighter/faster.
The Catalyst gets excellent drift and stability from losing 2 struts, and the bottom end is excellent for a 3 strut kite. If I was looking for an all rounder, that could still be used in waves on lighter days, boosts big and is just super easy to fly, relaunch, self launch and self land its hard to go past the value of the much lower prices Catalyst.
All the Ozones can be purchased kite only or we can package up a 2 kites 1 bar deal.

Yes it would be fine, but there is a limit to what could be done with it in light winds and big surf. Cross on conditions and smaller surf you would definitely have fun on a bigger board and the 14M Catalyst. I think under 10 knots it would be difficult to handle in surf due to the fact that you could end up heading towards the kite at almost wind speed which would end up with the kite in the drink. These light wind issues in waves would be even less favourable with the Edge.
