Are puffer fish common in Melbourne? I stepped on one on the beach yesterday evening at St Kilda (covered in sand so I didn't see it)which ended up going through my bootie and resulted in a nice trip to the doctor to have the spike removed and a tetanus injection.

Couldn't believe the spikes on the fish were strong enough to pierce a wetsuit bootie.

Puffer fish?is that a best product?workd well with helium.no seriously the pufferfish is a great variety of fish, not the best to look at but you have to admire there unique characteristics. **** only the other day i saw a dog go down by one(carctit). If you are seriuosly in the market for a fish though i find the patagonion tooth fish to be a much better choice.flakey tender flesh, highly intelegent for a larger species fish, sit way back in the reef system wich i like cause im not into a fish swimming forward into the sand banks.the only bad side is the rod pressure, much heavier than the old puffer variety.I would suggest try them all,i know guys still into the old tailor or muloway. suit yourself dude and if the puffer fish is your thing go for it, another beer

ummmm, puffer fish dont have big spines just nasty parroty teeth (don't kiss em), maybe you ate ones internal organs for fun saffer and this is your halucinagenic last typing spasms before meeting thy maker.

check google under stonefish, catfish, brokenbottlefish, rustynailfish.

What do you call this then? This is pretty much what it looked like.

Could have been the Porcupine Fish as wel. All I saw was a fish covered in spikes with sand all over it and after stepping on it, I didn't feel like spending lots of time examining exactly what it is given my knowledge of fish is limited to fast foods.
