Joe,

The wind ranges on the flexi site are very conservative. It really does depend on a lot of factors when considering low end ability of a kite. If you want to see a 14.5m Ion2 then have chat with Brooksy he has a 14.5 and a 10.5 ion2 and is in the brisbane area. I'm sure he'll let you have a go if you ask him nicely!!!

If not then Onedge should be getting a 10.5m in this week.

Cheers

Thanks for the correction Matt, I was having a complete brain fart when I typed that. The Ion2 is most definitely a Hybrid, but with very C like handling and feel.
However it has massive depower and boosting ability, super upwind and has good bottom end.

Cya and

Goodwinds

Joe there is a 12.5m Ion2 available too!

Joe,

Like karve said - ask nicely! If you happen to be around Wello on thursday afternoon, the forecast is looking good - I'll have both my kites in the car, probably the 10.5 up if the forecast stays the same.

The 14 is surprisingly quick, it definitely doesn't feel like a 14 in the air. I'm not sure about flexi's published wind range, but I've had it in 12kt up to the very low 20's on a 128 board. I typically like to ride as small a kite as possible so I haven't pushed it beyond that, but I was comfortable so 25 is not out of the question, and more for the bigger guys (last time I checked I was about 80kg). At 12kts I would have liked a slightly larger board but was holding my line fine.

Cheers

brooksy

Hey Brooksy!

Next time you're in Caloundra can I have a go on the 14?

I have Karve's 10.5 and it's great for 16+.

I promise to keep it out of the rocks!!???

For my mind the TD2 and the New Rhino are the two top contenders for grunt this season

Hi Brooksy,

We are planning on going up to the north coast maybe next weekend- if there is wind, and if it is possible to meet up , I would appreciate having a fly of your 14.5 ? We will drive through Bris , on the way to Maroochy, so I 'll send you a PM prior to see if you are available.

Also, I think justdoit's avatar has a couple of valid points..

If you want a grunty kite with loads of bottom end try the J&N Wild Thing 2 13m. I was riding the 8m the other day in 18 knots and that was plenty wind enough. Another kite that offers heaps of low end is the Blade Beast 12m. Gets you going in 12 knots (85kg, 133cm Custom)
