What I suggest 4 you is get a lesson even if it is a mate that teaches you. Try a few kites before buying one. I personally woudl highly recommend the F-One Bandit. I have the 9m and only need that one kite. (My weight is 68 kg) It has very good bottom end and can hold it up to 33 knots. Although last years 9m would do crazy things when overpowered above 33 knots but I think this years bandit has improved this. Other than that can't fault the kite.
I reckon you can go with a 11m kite and a board like my Naish 133cm sol 2007 which has a timber construction.
