So, a couple weeks ago I went down to the spit to kite Lake George and the place was riddled with duck hunters. A bunch of them had setup decoy ducks right in the prime downwind side of the spit. Not just a few, seriously like over 100 or so. I didn't realise they were fake until I kited right at them, and noticed that they were very much disinterested in flying away. The penny dropped.. I was in the kill zone. Not a nice feeling!

Anyway, I understand it's private property, but there were no signs or anything, so keep an eye out. At the time I was told that the season only lasted a couple weeks. Since then have looked at the gov website and it says it's allowed until June!
Is this normally an issue?
I've kited the spit quite a bit over the years and this is the first time I've seen them. The windsurfers were over the other side of the lake, so they were obviously onto it.

Luckily the wind was ****. Had it been nuking I may have had to jam one of the duck whistles into an orifice that it was not originally designed to go.

Actually the guys seemed nice enough when I spoke to them, and didn't shoot me which was a plus. What a **** 'sport' though. Can just imagine these bogan plebs sitting in the shed painting plastic ducks. ghey.
