Where should i go on a SSE day??? York Peninsula
i had a bad day yesterday the wind was a good 15-20 SSE around the place but i recieved some bad recommendations. I drive a fair distance (from Clare) so I hate to be dissappointed.
First my usual favourite - point arthur looked a little shallow so (on another kiters advice) i went to port Clinton.... Hated it. long walk, rocky and shallow, gusty, smelly mud......but the sand on the 5m wide beach was nice. did two runs and threw in the towel as the board was copping a beating from rocks.
I was then told the wind had come onshore at Wallaroo. Wallaroo is good fun in onshore, but my informant was incorrect. It was gusty with lots of holes and slightly off-shore. Apparently sea breeze only works there with a prevailing wind.
My feeling is that i should've gone to Ardrossan north of jetty and stayed all day, While it would've been lumpy as anything at least it would've been a decent ride.
What am i missing, can someone please recommend a couple of good Y.P. spots especially for a SSE - Easterly - Northeast and North?

Can't help you out too much but a mate who lives in wallaroo promised me wind when i went up there for the weekend and it cane in about midday- apparently solid onshores rock in every day during the later part of winter. Cool little place to kite, just watch out for the massive ships coming in - if you get in their wind shadow you have no hope of keeping your kite in the sky.

Hey mate, I have just started out kitesurfing, being from Pt Pirie there ain't many places around here so I head to Wallaroo, Pt Hughes or Moonta Bay. I like Pt Hughes in a s/w 15-20 knots, was down there last Sunday and the wind was a consistant 15 knots. I only know of one good spot on the other side of the peninsula and thats sultana point near edithburg. Never been there just been told its good in summer with the n/e and s/e winds. Still a fair drive for you though, hope this helps. It pays to have a contact person in the place where you want to go kiting so your drive there isn't for nothing...don't believe the weather forecast they are wrong sometimes. I kite on my own most of the time so if you want to meet up some where, let me know

thanks guys,
i have been meaning to get on down to Edithberg. hopefully the locals are friendly enough to exchange numbers for a weather update when i need it. I was at wallaroo on that same sunday and it was 15knots too.....then 5 then 15 then 5etc etc. sounds like pt hughes would've been a better option.
