Hi All,
My son and I left 2 Cabrinha kitebags 12m 2011 pale green and 8m 2008 black on the beach near the fence at the chicken shop on Sunday 4pm ish, (yesterday) We did some long downwinders and when we returned at 8pm the bags were gone-one with car keys etc in it. Hoping that a well meaning kiting community member has rescued them. Please contact Peter on 0412403664. Thanks.

Hi Peter,
They are in good hands. We could not see any kiters when we left so thought they'd been left behind, and we guessed they were yours and your sons.

Hao has them, I will let him know your number.

Sorry for the trouble caused.

Hi Pete,

As Rooboy said, there is usually a very minor percentage in any group of people that can twist an action of good intent into something s**t.

I look forward to meeting you sometime.

Yet another Barossa kiter at Parham.

Cheers

hi Peter. Don't let this tool give the impression that this is how the community is. If you have a look back at the post where your son is Santa you can see how many red thumbs are on his posts and how many green ones are on your post. It's just like the pub on a Friday night, plenty of nice people just out to have a good time but there is always one spanner in the mix

yeah thats funny,
you grab a pump off a beach -that still has kiters on it, so not deserted then it takes you 3 fekkin months to return it- only after something is said.
red thumb away you d1ckhead

With an attitude like that I'm surprised you got it back at all.

My thoughts would be that if you can afford to put 10c worth of tape around your pump/bag etc, write your name and number on it like mum used to do, then you would stand a pretty good chance of seeing it come back especially if someone has picked it up with the right intentions.

Even being a good samaritan, it is a pain in the arse to try and track down who ever lost their gear in the first place and then to organise to get it back to them so try and make it easier on the finder.

If you don't get it back after doing that, then I guess you can assume that a dingo got it!

Hey Danny, how is the search for the 7m Trigger going?

p.s, thanks to the guy from KI for the lend of your pump last night.... greatly appreciated.

Interesting- the pump was a brand new one I had borrowed so no name, was desperate for a kite so left it on the beach (against my normal routine- I looked around and thought only SAKSA people here so should be fine) came back and its gone. still kiters out and SAKSA tent up so day not over. The guy that took it is considered a good samaritan?
I had written the pump off as gone by the time i made the post 2 1/2 months after the and was pissed off by then, hence the 'attitude'- did plead with Sean a week before that this was getting beyond a joke
found an ozone pump on the beach this weekend gone, no kiters out, passed it on to the ozone rep who lives close by, I'm sure the kiter's got it back by now.
If I had mistakenly grabbed something in my packup I would get it back to the individual asap, even just hop in the car and deliver or post or what ever - would feel guilty if it had taken more than a couple of weeks. Guess thats just my code, not sure of everyone else's.

Sorry mate, my last post was not directed specifically at you, it was more of a general opinion and something I think I would try to encorporate when I get my new gear.

In your case I would tend to agree that it would have been a bit strange that if saksa was around, people on the water etc. that someone would pick up gear on the beach.

Atleast it could have been returned to the saksa tent so it could be retrived from there.

Ahh well, at least you got your pump back in the end.

I would like to think that is the main goal of anyone who finds equipment on the beach (to get it back to its owner) and I have seen a lot more success stories of equipment getting back to people on seabreeze than people losing stuff.

Cheers.

On a positive note I was kiting at Goolwa and in a brain fade left my harness on the rear wheel-cover just before xmas.
Loved that harness, missed it and the only spare one I had was a women's harness that made these embarrassing farting noises after coming up after a crash.
Last week AKSA contacted me asking if I had lost a harness, if so had been found and tracked down by my SAKSA member tag attached. Contacted findee and he dropped it by on Saturday and is a 6pack of Becks better off and no-one calls me fanny farting Phil anymore.

Sean from SAKA correct, glad you mentioned that? was he the person l was dealing with, and communicating with and trying to arrange a place to catch up and return the pump, unfortunatley he was away alot of the time and we crossed path's,many phone call's and emails on my behalf trying to arrange something, correct, all of this time l was thinking that the Pump was Seans, in the end l said l would Post it to him at my cost, at the end of the day l had no ldea it was yours ,and if l was a random pump sneak trying to add to my collection in my santa bag, why would l have responded to the lost pump post? simple as that say what you like, sounds like communication is your issue here, along with verbal abuse over the forum is that allowed?

Ok I'll bite as I am pretty bored at the moment.

Here's the difference - One person is posting as a real person and explained in response to your previous post with this:

on unloading we realised that the pump was not ours as we also have a slingshot pump that looks the same.
We responded to the lost property Post and this is what you get? Santa is my son Justin he wanted me to post the pic for a bit of fun, say no more? have a great new year and some good kiteing. Peter.

The other person posts with the name Phil Mckracken and posts like this:

don't leave any gear where santa can see it because he will steal it- he has from me

luv
istt

hey santa i was a good boy all year, can i please have a slingshot pump- the one you stole from me will do

Hey Santa claus you ****!
Where's me ****ing pump?
I've unwrapped all this other junk and there's nothing that I like.

Just going with whats printed in black and white.

I'm sure you're a lovely guy as long as you don't think I have stolen something from you.

now it's Sean s fault? My fault for communication?
Sean stated on the original post that he would get it back to the owner.
Thank you Sean, who is one of the most giving people in this kite community and don't feel like his rep should be tarnished by this. The onus is on you not him.
Not 'saying what I like' just going by the details which are- pump put on beach- pump taken from beach - pump admitted taken - 2 months later pump still taken - 2 1/2 months phil is fed up and has a drunken rant, 3 months later pump finally delivered.
Actually looking at this I think it is my fault and should have got drunk sooner, sorry about that, hope santa will forgive me, will have to be special good for the rest of the year and get drunk quicker.
How about taking ownership - did you end up with my pump by divine intervention? Your apparent lack of urgency in this matter got up my nose, sorry if offended, but really, leave peoples stuff alone, unless your'e helping - and then actually be a help.
Sorry that you feel that you should have thrown it in the sea, but instead you sent it back at your cost - how magnanimous of you.
I'm over this, got it back - would have been handy to have earlier, gave it back to the owner who looked at me like I should have just brought him a new one instead of dicking him around.

Sorry for not being a real person -just seems needed for more credibility on the internet. Not really hiding, just tongue n cheek persona that has been there for a long time.
I have given and loaned much stuff in my 36 years of kiting, but it does irritate me when gear gets taken.
If my finger offends thee then don't cause it to rise.
And really, my pump was taken, by hook or crook and was not returned until i was finally fed up, wrote the pump off, and vented.(my apologies to Kevin bloody Wilson)

Kite traction has been around a long time - google George Pocock had a 4 line kite before the 1900's.
I have been a crash test dummy for many ideas in this field and the term de-power still makes me smile.
