hi there i am a newbie to kiteboarding. i spent a couple of weeks in w.a and my mates over there are getting right into it.i gave it a bit of a crack and i can see it would be a great sport to get into.

what i want to know is whats the best way to get into it here in s.a. i dont know anyone who does it, i have a mate who is keen on sussing it out. i only new about this site thankls to my friend in w.a. should i do just buy a kite and board and look for some lessons. the boys in w.a told me to get a learning kite that you fly on the beach or something first.

any help would be very appreciated

I am fairly new to Kite Surfing. I had lessons first (in December). That gave me a good idea of what size kite and board I needed. And even the brands I felt comfortable with (before buying). Not to mention the great advice from my instructor, Guy at Red Barron (who still gives me tips and advice 4 months after having lessons with him!!!).
My wife and I both took up kiting together and baught all our gear through Seabreeze. (No I am not getting paid by anyone to say these things!!) The stuff we baught were good as new, one season old and pretty much half price of new ones. I guess it is personal choice and budget of whether you want new or second hand gear.
I agree with Action_ms69, definately go to www.saksa.com.au and definately have a chat with the surf shops.

Sean In Adelaide kite surfing is basically all year round, just gets a bit colder :) in the winter. Just be careful of the frontal stuff that comes through in the winter.
Normally if there's wind and you have the time you will find people kite surfing in Adelaide.

Red baron does a kiting tour in the winter months normally overseas some where. so i think that why he finishes in May. But get in touch with Guy he is a good instructor
