OK, finally got some photos up.
I made this camera holder for my pentax W60 using a camera holder from K Mart ($25), some glue, wetsuit material, velcro, and needle and thread. Fits my SS REV's, and is suited to any kite with a gap (non stitched area) between the strut and canopy (near the leading edge).

I used some extra padding inside the case to lock the camera inside the case (bit of movement otherwise).
The hardest part is getting the angle right so that the rider is in the middle of the focus area, and usually means a bit of trial and error putting the kite up for a while, then down to add/remove some angle, then back up.
Let me know if anyone is after any other info, also, www.camrig.com has some info on camera suitability and editing.

Nice work gibo .. I made my own, and it looks very similar to yours. Starting to get a bit sloppy after a few crashes, and repairs but ok.

I also have a the CamRig one, which means I can leave the rigs mounted on the kites, as moving the rig from kite to kite means you can sometimes upset the positioning, and when you get home find all you've filmed is ocean.

There's also an article here on another home made technique, or the new CamRig's are due soon which fit heaps more models of camera, and have lots of new tweaky features.

Hey laurie,
this has held up ok so far, the zip gets a bit stuck but rinses clean, occasionally a hard crash will have the camera pointing off to a side but thats rare. I got pretty lucky with the padding setting the angle, on the second try i was spot on and it is interchangable between my 9m and 13m rev's as long as i attach it as far away from the LE as possible.
For anyone thinking of getting a kite cam and rigging a holder, there are some rumours of a new pentax W out sometime this year, which might be worth exploring. The W60 is not bad but a longer movie mode (current max is 32min) and a shorter interval timer (min is every 10 sec) would be better for kite use.
