Travelling from Adelaide to the coast mentioned for July and August. Complete beginner, completely stoked, long time surfer but definately need more flat water than waves so as I can get going.

Can anyone be so kind as to recommend spots along the way ? Flat water lagoons ? Alva has been mentioned and on G/Earth and to my untrained eye it looks sweet for me. Would like to experience a few spots tho'...............

I do not wish to get in anyone's way but do not wish to be by myself either.

Equipment wise I have the use of a 12metre kite and a 139 x 40 tt. 78 tacos. Warmth wise, would a shortie wettie be sufficient, or a short arm steamer ? I will be spending time in the water

tia, cheers, foss

Town beach in mackay is worth a couple of days if there's wind.
Shortie wetsuit should be fine
PM if you make it

just follow the crowds, just go where the locals are. its not our wind season on the central cost that time of year, any wind we do get is unpredictable and gusty. north QLD on the other hand, they tell me its good that time of year!
