Hello everybody,
I want to come around Brisbane to get a job, and I was wondering about the wind.
I come from Perth where the wind is really good.
How many days a week do you have wind stronger thant 15 knots over there ?
I'll probably spend 4 months starting on April.

Thanks a lot and hope to see u on the water.

Unfortunately the months your are talking about aren't too promising.
In our winter, we don't get much wind except for the occasional strong westerly. followed by nothing!

I'm wondering about this as well. Whats the wind like in QLD?

No wind in Brisbane after summer but if I head further North to Carins then I might catch some?

What kind of strengths are we looking at? 15Knots plus? How many days a week will you get in Cairns and Brisbane throughout the year?

Basically I want as much wind info about QLD as I can get my hands on! Wind satistics only help so much.

Dude, what else is there? Statistics come from the collection and interpretation of quantitative (numerical) data over a period of time. If you want information on wind I dare say this will be the best you can get:

www.bom.gov.au/climate/averages/wind/selection_map.shtml

Wind roses show the frequency of occurrence of wind speed and direction.

exactly what you are after...

Wind information is available for 81 selected locations around Australia which have a wind records of at least 15 years. Many of these sites have more than twenty five years of data. There are wind roses for a number of sites across Australia.

Hope this helps in your quest. Good luck.

Hey Martin, Defo check out that link. It has over 60 years of data on it. There are spots up here that are in the running for Australia's most reliable tradewinds. Some of these locations can't be accessed by individuals. Some can. Wherever you go, make sure you are safe in the water. You cant beat local knowledge and it's always the tourists that get eaten or dissapointed.

The safe option is to hook up with a professional tour. Contact me if you need more info.

Last year out of 200 days on tour we had 2 days of 5 knots or less. Constantly blows onshore at 18 - 25 from April till November. And the waters are clear and warm so no need for the thermals.

Hope to see you in Paradise for a sesh.
