**** dude, are you following me?

I just moved from Perth to Brisbane a month ago and am living in Wynnum. Nice suburb but not really good for kiting although it looks like you could if you were desperate. Its really shallow and muddy and i'm not sure where you would launch and land, but if you went out deep enough i'm sure it could work for boring flat water. I've been here a month and have only managed to sneak in one quick 30 min session at the gold coast in 14 knot almost offshore flaky sketchy wind. Awesome waves though.

Wellington point is apparently good for kiting, is only about 10-15 ins from Wynnum. Personally i'll be doing a few runs down to the gold coast for whenever then weekend forecast looks good. If you like the surf, then this area (goldie or sunshine) is way better than Perth (except for wind).

Expect to do a lot less kiting than you would in Perth. Gone are the days of picking and choosing which days to go out. Also, the sun rises and sets approx 30 mins earlier over here too, so a post work session is also a lot more difficult.

Wanna go halves in a ski-boat (or a para-sail)?

When do you get here?

Hey man, jees your story seems pretty much the exact same as mine... lot of people that replied to your thread really puttin me off brissy haha... but have to come anyway, i bought myself a 12 rebel anyway to give me every opertunity available to get out... im very eager to keep up kiting as i was only introduced about 2.5 months ago... i would defo travel for kiting too weekends and stuff/downwinders etc....

I dont really mind boring flat water. still enjoy popping basic jumps and stuff... havent much experience in the surf (one or two sessions)but would be keen to learn more too..

I arrive in brisbane on monday... will have to try sort something with regards accomodation too... dont really know my way round but what harm ha ha...

HEy Guys - I'm Doing the same trip for work and moving for a girl so keen to also know the local kiting spots on the East coast - I checked out Wellington point the other day as i will be living in 8 mile plains to start but look at moving closer to the city and the beach. (Know if a spare room going???) Looks like a good spot.

I hear my 9mtr (the main kite for WA) wont be my only kite for sure.

Hope to catch you on the water to swap Perth Wind stories

and moving for a girl

Hmmm... maybe when you get here we both need to brainstorm how to get these women back over west. My current plan is to get her into kitesurfing...

Try Sandgate/Brighton (Brisbane Northside). The 3 to 4KM stretch of beach sand/grit is cleaner than Manly & Wellington point. Generally up to 40 kiters there when the wind is blowing.

Don't have any expectations that you're going to kite much over the next few months. Good winter winds don't occur too much. September the Northeasterlies kick in at around 15K.

The broadwater at the Gold Coast is also great if you like flat water.
