Welcome aboard to Kiting in South East QLD. There are some great spots and you will generally find a lot of welcoming crew. There should be crew at Shearwater Esplanade, Runaway Bay in the morning. It has a better launch/land spot than Jennifer Ave. That part of the Broadwater works best when it is tide opposite of wind direction as most places do but if there is 18 kts plus of wind usually that's enough to defeat tide going in the same wind direction apart from king tides and big rains where more volume of water is moving. Tomorrow morning is a small low tide about 9am after that the tide will be coming in from the GC Seaway which is South of that location, so if there is a Southerly blowing as forecast, the wind will be going the same direction as the tide.
Alternatively there is another flatwater spot where the tide works in another direction altogether is Kfc's/Loders Creek/Len Fox Park, Marine Pde, Labrador (best to kite there now as the opposite side of the Broadwater at the Main Beach Spit is under total threat and pressure from Developers who want to exploit the current 3 storey height limit on construction and the fact that the area was set aside by the State Govt along time ago, that it was to be reserved for the People of the State of Qld for their recreation, enjoyment and entertainment, where the Developers want to Build many 40, 50, 60+ Multi Storey Highrise Developments and a new Laguna Keys style bridge running from near Seaworld directly across the Broadwater and connecting to the Southport or Labrador Mainland with mainly investment residential apartments for the worlds wealthy, instead of those Developers buying land and Developing those types of Developments in Zones allowable for those types of Developments. Where they want to destroy the character of the Gold Coast and the Spit, will severely impact and devastate the wind coming across the bay to that location forever and possibly even effect locations wind as far north as Shearwater Esplanade at Runaway Bay, as I found scientific evidence recently that wind shadowing effects up to 20 to 25 the distance x the height of an object or building, not 7 x which has been a bit of an old wives tale). If the wind is Southerly at that location it is no good, as it cops bad wind shadowing from multi storey highrise buildings back in Southport and needs winds to be more SSE or SE or anything from the North or East to be any good there. There should also be a few crew at that location tomorrow as well if the forecast is correct.
