Hi there, I'm moving to Coolangatta from Nz in a few months. I surfed snappers on an onshore wind last time I was there. Just wondering is it possible to surf in offshore winds?
Or are there too many surfers?
Also thought wind shadows could be a problem?

Any info would be awesome.
Cheers

Nice move Harry

Is it permanent?

Can't speak from experience but from what I have heard Snapper is always
crowded as it is one of the best breaks around.

Hopefully catch up for sesh when you get here

Hey bro, dunno about permanent. But yeah
untill I think of a better idea.

Yeah I don't think there's any kiting on snappers
in offshore. I asked the same question in 'general
discussion' and got a whole lot of sarcastic replies.

Yeah mate, I'll let u know when I'm heading over.

P.s I've changed from the switchblades to the drifters now cause I only really kite the waves.
Awesome kites!!!

Later bro

hey nomad,
occasionally there's a few guys who do downwinders, via dbah,
but they hang super wide off snapper.

i've kited at north kirra, with onshore conditions, not that great.

Offshore the wind gets really fickle around cooly, that's why it's so good for surfing,
if you check the wind readings on BOM or SB, cooly vs the gold coast seaway, you'll see every time cooly reading much less. Though i'm not exactly sure where the wind metre is at cooly.
Having said that, there's no way i'd ever try and kite from snapper or greenmount. If you really want to try, maybe try north kirra, then tack upwind (south).
