Hi all.
Any kiters living around the West coast of Bali? I'm in the Canggu area, and looking for some people to kite with? Sanur and East coast is all good, but i find i don't get enough sessions in having to drive over there, matching tides and wind when i'm working.

I'm still in a slightly kook phase, but keen to learn and get more sessions in. Would love some tips on self launch/land if any experienced kiters around?

Happy to spot a few beers, or drive around if anyone is keen?

Hey thomas - sorry, i'm not over there, so can't help you - but i was just wondering what the wind is like on that side of the island? Like how strong does it get and which months are the windiest??? I've been to Bali at least 15 times, just never for kiting, so have never taken any notice. Thinking of going again but would love to pick a time and place when there is more chance of wind around?
Thanks!!

Thanks for the replies guys. Sorry, i haven't logged in here in ages. Winds are strong by Bali standards at the moment. I've seen the occasional kiter out, but still finding it hard to get time on weekends to get out. Holidays in a few weeks should be able to get a few sessions in. hillsgirl, as gokid mentioned, June/July/August are generally best. Trade winds strengthen, and pick up throughout the day. Usually by mid day or 1/2pm its plenty windy on this (Canggu/west side) to get a kite up. On the east coast, its generally a few knots lighter, but still tends to follow the same pattern. At times during this "kite season" as the locals call it the wind will stay on all night, and they can leave the decorative kits flying overnight. As we get closer to the wet season Sep/Oct, the winds will get lighter, and start to drop off altogether overnight and only pick up after mid day the next day. Not strong winds by any measure (i grew up in southern Victoria) but, with a big kite i suppose you could get sessions in all year round, particularly on the west coast. If you were traveling specifically to kite, then July/Aug is the go.

Ricardo1709. Happy to drive around and show you a few nice beaches for kiting if you are here in Oct, in exchange for a few tips/advice.
