There is a huge area in what could be call the "illawarra". From waves to flat water, we have it all but it's not the most consistent spot on the NSW south east coast. Better flat locations might be "Jervis Bay" and with not much swell this might be the go. Any further south is not the Illawarra and this opens up a whole new bunch of weather scenarios to worry about.

i was thinking of here either side of the little island, at the mouth of lake tabourie, where it meets the sea. 10 mins south of uladulla. i was thinking of doing a day trip on Tuesday. i like waves!!! unless you know of somewhere better/closer to Canberra?

Better to stay south of Gerroa this time of year for northeasters, today we didnt get much wind at all at the gong whereas south of Gerroa ya would have got a decent kite in.South side of the island at Lake Tabourie theres a nice left just dont go out too far as theres a large wind shadow behind the island.

Teabaggin is on the money, the NE er's can get a bit funky in the Illawarra. It's quite known that south of Gerroa is the best and most consistent location for NE winds. Keep Culburra in mind too. It gets the same, if not better than Gerroa and has lot's of good wave set up's and a lake for flat riding. Ulladulla and surrounds south can suffer from the same fate as the Illawarra, where the wind can sit half a km offshore. The x on the map are good places for waves but the Ulladulla area has many good wave locations.
