Hi Guys
I'm currently kiting and surfing my way around the world (arrive in Melbourne from Chile in a couple of weeks). To keep airline baggage charges down, I opted to get a FireWire Kite Board (5' 10"x19 3/4 x x 2 3/8 - 29.4L) for kiting and surfing.... but it's not perfect. It's OK for kiting (perhaps a bit floaty) and a bit heavy (4.5kg) for performance surfing.
North claim their 2017 'Pro Surf' and 'Session Surf' boards are also good for surfing and only weight 3kg. I'm 77kg so would probably be somewhere between the 5' 11" and the 6' 1" boards for surfing (5' 11" for kiting). I have a couple of questions that I hope you can help with:
- Has anyone got a board that they use for both kiting and surfing and are happy with it?
- Do you know anywhere around the Melbourne area where it's possible to try out some North boards (or other suitable brands)
Any help gratefully received. See you on the water I hope...

I'm considering selling my current model Mako King, people have been known to use those as a crossover board.

Recently went surfing on a 5'11" Vader that I bought for kiting in light winds. Not the best board for strong winds as it easily flies away.

the firewire boards seem to fo ok for cross over, surfed on a almond butter firewire which was a pretty sweet board (im a terrible surfer though)
