G'day guys,
I will be staying in the laverton area for 10 days (10-20April) and im wondering if its worth me bringing my kite.. my questions are:
1) will there be sufficient / reliable wind for a 12m?
2) where are some good kiting areas close to laverton, i.e Altona, point cook, sanctuary lakes?

The reason why im limited to these areas is that i prob wont have a car for transport.
Any local information would be appreciated... Im flying down from interstate and in 2 minds whether to bring my gear or not. influence my decision please.

tks,
Gerard.

altona's a great spot but needs wind from wsw to easterly. any north in it and its no good. at this time of year you may only get a couple of kiteable days in that time frame. as for kite size, if the wind is sw from fronts coming through you may want a smaller kite.

so, possibly just adding to your ambivalence, but you might get a few great sessions, you might get nothing...

Bring Gear... you know the rule... If you dont bring it it will be windy

Altona = good for kiting ( flat water and heaps and heaps of room )
Kite = If you only bring one I would say a 12m ........if more a 12m and an 8m.

as djdojo said you may get lots of wind in the right direction or you may get none. But if you bring a 12m you should at least get out twice a week....

eg: Sunday arvo was 30 to 35knots, Today forecast is for 15 - 25knots S, Tuesday 15 -20 SW ...... Wed 10 -15 SW Thursday 5 -10 knots.... s So you can see it is a bit all over the place at this time of year.
