Headed down to Altona today and had a good sesh. Noticed they're putting in some pipe works or something of the sort. What's the go with that? They looking to dump more crap in the ocean?

Also, did they dump fresh sand down there or something? Haven't been there in a year but it look like a heap more sand on the beach...

that is all....

Yep, it'd part of the Altona beach renourishment project. They're widening the beach to the north of that rock groyne all the way up past the pier to the matching rock groyne the other side.

Oh, and to the guy on the 2011 orange/brown Torch who was about 15-20m from the pier; please stay the minimum required 50m from the pier unless you want a ban or additional restrictions imposed. K.Thx.Bye.

Can someone tell me what the go is know with kiting at Altona beach.
Where can you launch/land?
Is the larger beach area near the pier off limits for launching and landing now?

Thanks

No setting up, launching or landing to the east (pier side) of McBain St (where the pathway goes from the car park to the beach). Recommended setup between McBain and Romawi St, and then walk to the waters edge to launch to make sure your a safe (and legal) distance from the power lines, trees and other beach users.
