Always love it when you're out on the water and a whole heap of people are sitting on land watching others kiting and assuming you have some sort of miracle kite or that you weigh 40kg's before they decide to venture onto the water and realise that there is actually a lot of wind in the air and that the wind on the beach is deceptively light.

We must have had an hour of kiting with only 5 people before I eventually came in to change boards and told some of the people to head out.

I had the same on the other side of the bay. It would have been better earlier but there were a heap of families and stuff on the beach. I still got a lazy hour of boosting and carving in glassy, warm conditions.

Tip 1. Kite lines are 25m long. The average value for the wind gradient is just under 20m so you can have your kite up in strong winds while riding on glassy smooth water. The secondary lift from jumps in these conditions is amazing.

Tip 2. That's a secret.

was a good day, pretty crowded on the water but the beach was covered in kites. I had a 10 up, so no lack of wind.

now onto the Jellyfish.. there were so many once i got out past the sandbad, the water was full of them (i could see maybe 20-30 within a few meters of me)

are these dangerous? my fear was that if i fall and get dragged a bit i would collect about 10 jellyfish along the way.

Am i the only one that is scared of these things?

They will sting you but its not life threatening. A minor bit of discomfort.

That was the first time i'd been to Altona. It was awesome, I spent ages out there and was wondering why no one was coming out.
Didn't mind it though. Plenty of free space

The tides were perfect early on. Heaps of beautiful flat water. Which kite were you on?

was out at altona on saturday evening. Got out just as the zephyr came down Kiting in the moonlight is sick! Missed sunday evening session. Didn't look like it was going to happen. Curse the SE's and those that live over West!

Bay jelly fish do sting a little and you will notice it although definitely wouldn't end a session or bother trying to put something on it.
