Moving into Autum. Which, for Melbourne and most of the Victorian coast means frig-all wind. I started learning Autum last year and have just had my first proper runs - yes thats right: thats after one full year! What, with work commitments, crummy summer with bugger all sea breezes, an undersized kite for the conditions (11m @90kg) its been a very frustrating entry into the sport.
Then, to squirt lemon juice on the paper cut, last weekend, for the first time. I go down to the amazing Sandy Point and guess what? TOO MUCH WIND!!!!!!!!!!!!
Despite my bitchin and moanin, I'm totally hooked - testimony to the amazing sport that is kiteboarding. Aided by a Zen calm that is welling in me - the welcome consequence of dealing with a sport controlled by the fickle Gods of weather and wind (yeah right!)
