I am a big fan of Balnarring when the wind is SW or SE, but I don't go there often because it is a long drive and the wind meter always seems to say there isn't much wind.

I suspect that if the wind is east of SE or west of SW it might be in a shadow?

Can anyone give me some guidance on how to read this wind meter?

For example I always assume there is 5 knots less wind at Rosebud than at South channel when it is blowing from the north.

It should be a fairly tyre read as the site is situated of shore on one of the channel markers

The Western Port Weather Station is located 1.5 kms offshore in the Balnarring Bight, Western Port, Victoria, Australia. Its location is 38' 23 South, 145' 8 East.

Occasionally a bird will land on the device and screw the readings

Thanks, I was assuming that it was connected to the annamometer on the roof of the yacht club.

I don't think I've ever seen a correct wind reading from westernport.
