is there unofficial (official even?) rule of thumb at Brighton, kiters stay north of the reef, windsurfers own the 'in front of beach boxes' area??
was about to head a few hundred metres upwind when my powers of observation kicked in and i noticed kiters and wsurfers sticking to what appeared to be 'own turf'...
just thought id make an ask of you all, before i make an arse of myself...

I dont think there is anything official....... the wind surfers tend to have a fear of kites ( something about them all thinking they are going to be decapitated by the lines pffffttt.............) and therefore tend to stay away from the kiters........
I kite quite often amongst the windsurfers down at ricketts and they all have good attitudes, I just try to avoid diving my kite near them.

Nothing official except stay out from the beach where the beach boxes are as inside the poles is no boating. The windsurfers are ok if they stay further up the beach. If you want to crank upwind that is fine just stay out of the no boating area - the LSC don't like it and they have been pretty good helping with rescues in the past so we need to do the right thing.
Can be fun upwind off the carpark at green point.
