My work is about to move from East Bentleigh to Moorabin airport. Ive always enjoyed been close to middle Brighton beach as I can leave after work and in about 10-15mins I can kite from N-S and get an hour and a half in then get home at 7:30 to put the kids to bed. Can you guys tell me the best and closest places to kite near Moorabin airport and in which wind conditions. Is Mordialloc or Parkdale good? Is there a kite spot to set up or are there any areas we shouldn't be? I would prefer not going further away from the city as I have to get home at some point.

Mentone would be best, nice clean bay waves, works S, SE, SW, E. Park at the Mentone surf club, most people set up on the beach then use the grass area for pack down. Before you go out ask someone about the no kiting zone which is in front of the surf club.
Aspendale/Gnotuk which is 10 minutes further South is more beginner friendly, has a wider launch area and generally less non kiters around.
Some people kite at Mordialloc but I haven't yet.
Cheers, see you out there.

Hey noodelsrominov. I hear a fair bit regarding Mentone and Gnotuk. I haven't kited there yet as I still have 1 or 2 lessons left on my new gear.
If you're looking for someone to head out with to these area's I'd be keen to join you as it's fairly local to where I live too and beats driving to Hampton or Rosebud.
Keep me posted if you're keen.

Above spots are good BUT FROM MOORABBIN TO BRIGHTON WOULD ONLY TAKE 15 TO 20 MIN?????? TO Mentone 15 to 20min ?? So just depends on wind

Thanks for the info guys. I'll give Gnotuk a go at some point but I think Vendeavours might be right that I would probably be better off driving to brighton. I just get so excited when the winds up I can't spend any more time in the car. I fact crashed on the way from work to the beach last year as I was too busy thinking about the sun and wind. Don't worry got to the beach a little late but still got a kite in.
anyone kited parkdale? I think I did it last year for the Across the bay to conqure cancer half crossing...I think. It was pretty good.
