1) it was my kite

2) it was a dog leashed zone so therefore she is breaking the LAW!

3) she wasnt watching her dog! I wasnt near her dog, where the dog ran across the beach and jumped and had bitten my brand new kite.

4) You are responsible for the actions of your dog, what happens if it bites a little kid because their running away? whos fault is that?

5) i was calm until she tried to walk off 3 times and acted like it wasnt her dog that did it! and didnt want to take responsibility for her dog.

6) i did get aggressive due to her wanting to walk off and being a new kite costing me $2200 and only used twice.

7) i wanted ID which is understandable due to repairing the damages that she is at fault for. Her friend accompanied me with the dog and she did agree with it until she came back with ID. So NO I DID NOT DOG NAP!! lol

8) the dog tore the leading edge bladder which has to be replaced and a whole new leading edge panel. KBV wouldnt understand because they cannot kite themselves!

9) kites are hard to sell when they have a repair especially on the leading edge and they dont fly the same!

10) i was over dramatic, I do get aggressive if someone touches my kite gear like everyone would! and I have apologized to that person for my behavour.

11) the kite is getting repair and she will be invoiced for the repair only.

12) You must be pretty low to have posted this initial incident on here!!

What new kite did you get? Bummer it is damaged - hope the repair comes up good.

Glad to hear your side of the story - hope you gave the dog nice cuddles.

yes before posting the initial comment and only hearing her side and not mine is stupid. I did realize i said the wrong things so to make her a little more comfortable whilst she went to get her ID and I was waiting with her friend at Katani which is located on Stkilda West beach so people where present and she was more comfortable with that.

the problem we have here is failure to communicate from a kite organisation called kbv.And in a little way your self control. If they hadnt posted in the first place and, because it is known now that the president must spend a lot of time and have financial interests in Stkilda kiting, had not discussed this with you beforehand. What needs to be done is whoever wrote the initial post putting you down needs to be aware that no one needed to know about this in the first place.Remember on the internet it is guilty till proven inocent. It looks to me that you have a nazi in kbv and would enjoy having people like you not on his/her beach. This is true if what you say is true.

IMHO: Publishing the only side of the story that was available at the time was obviously an attempt to get the other side of the story as the kiter at that stage was not named by the dog owner.

And the KBV report has also been updated and seems more neutral since contact from GT.

IMHO, publishing one side was always going to be flame bait and likely to resulting in a lynching before he even had a chance to defend himself.

They could quite as easily said:

"We were notified today of an incident between a dog owner and a kiter. We'd like to hear both sides of the story before publishing any information. If anyone knows anything, please contact us"

Whoa!

Let’s all take a breath hey, as it is the festive season for a start!

I’m pretty sure that the crew at KBV are doing their best to promote safety for kiters and share knowledge of events that are happening in your area.

The original post was put up in good faith with the intention of ensuring that beach access is retained for all. No malice or meanness intended at any point.

i think maybe KBV should think about what they post. Safety for kiter with a purpose of dognapping lol

"Dog bites kite and kiter bites back"

I will always bite back!

Saffer: as always a sensible suggestion - point taken and noted - hopefully there will not be a next time however I wonder if we would have got any response if we had not been so "out there"??

Anyway, at GT's request we are not discussing this further on this forum.

KBV... what a joke.. where is the original post?

lol

edit: found it... still lol

and whether it was a leashed area or not, the owner still needs to have control over their dog... they do not own the unleashed beaches and still must take responsibility for their dogs actions

100% agree - if you check back you will see we posted the following:
" Dog owners have a clear undisputed responsibility for the control of their dogs at the beach and also are responsible for any damage caused by the dog to kites or kiters. They also have an equal right to use the beach under the specified conditions (dog on leash etc ).
